A Whole Week?

It was a week ago when my computer decided I could not type on the keyboard any more. I was so frustrated. Thank goodness Paul's eldest son Jeff (with his brother Scott) came a visiting from Utah (to visit their father Paul). While they were here he was very nice and took time to fix it. I am not just sure what he did, but he really knows what he is doing with computers and I am very grateful.

When they came we met at Good Shepherd. It took Paul a little while to, I believe, know that it was them. After a little while Jeff began reminding Paul of fun things they did when Jeff was a little boy and they lived in Panama. Paul began to laugh and really enjoyed that. Scott began thinking of these they did also and he just keep laughing. It was wonderful to see Paul so happy.

He kept forgetting what Scott does and so Scott had to tell him again and again that he is now a Dentist and Paul would congratulate him each time.

I have talked to Paul about their visit and how fun it was. Some times he remembers right away and others he has to think about it for a while. But he is always pleased about it. He is doing much better at getting up now for all his meals and he eats pretty well.

With the help of Josef coming over Saturday evening and staying over night, he was here and drove us over to Elaine and Lloyd's at 6:00am Sunday Morning and we drove to Maricopa (the town) where Josiah and Heidi Conway live. We met at their Ward, the Sacrament Mtg. started at 8:00am. Josiah blessed little Spencer. I was very taken back by the powerful and spiritual blessing. There is no doubt that the Lord has some very important work for him to do. I think we all know that times are changing fast and that this new generations will be here to walk with the Savior. I shall never for get the feeling as that Blessing was given.

Their Bishop and Stake President were the speakers (it was their Ward Conference) and they both spoke of the special blessing that was given Little Spencer.

Monday the family gathered at Elaine & Lloyd's again, this time for a Baby Shower for little Spencer. It was so much fun. Poor Lloyd I'm afraid might think that we have all moved in we have been there so many times lately. Although, he never complains. He is always very sweet.

When ever we were together this weekend I couldn't help noticing the "Conway Kids" constantly saying "Mom & Dad" this and that. It is so obvious that they all love him and are really pleased to have a Mom and Dad now.

Today I called the lady at AHCCCS Health insurance about the new "share of cost" bill for Paul's care at Good Shepherd that I received. I was surprised. She was very nice and I feel like she is going to help me (some). I prepared and FAXed her 10 pages of information and she is going to get back with me. I don't know just how soon, but I'm glad to have been able to get that information to her. At least I have done my part. Now I just have to wait.

The last few days have been very busy and I feel really tired, but it has been good.

More Exercise in Patience

I expected I would have gotton at leaset one phone 'call back on the amount AHCCCS Health Insurance Notice has assummed I will be abble to pay to then for Paull mdecal and presonel needs.

Ihave a meeting with staff,Nurses,Doctor.Social Servies, and any others. TheSocial wookers from

there and Hospice of the Valley.

After that meetig I will meet with the others to see what has happened and what we need to

do to get the amount resolved.

After lunch I went to sis. Parks to help more on her New Family Sreach

She i such a sweet person., and she worries abought gettig all hear familu histor sent to the Touple. She hash intered offer 24 - 30 Thousonds names She gets me escited to get back working on ouf families records again.

I had a nice call from Char today we have picked out some quite things for little Elisabath' 2nd Birthday and the new baby about to come. She orded it from Amizon and the compuor. They gift wray and mail it for you. How great is that' [

What a Shock!

I was having a normal day cleaning and returning calls. Then I went to the mail box. Inside was a letter from AHCCCS Health Insurance Notice (the State of Arizona Health Care). It was letting me know that there has been an increase to the amount I have to pay each month for Paul being in Good Shepherd. The increase was from $0.00 to $748.04. After I read all six pages I understood none of their math and how it got changed to that. After I calmed down, I call Good Shepherd and left a message for the accounting gal and the one that helped prepare all the admission papers. I know they were both in agreement that his care was covered.

A little while later I got a call from the one ahead of accounting Michele, and she agreed to meet with me after the meeting Thursday morning to asses Paul's condition and needs. Then I got a call from Shelia in Admissions and she was really upset about it too. She seems to know someone to call that she knows well and see what she can do. She said she would be back with me tomorrow morning. That is the first thing she will see to when she gets in.

So, I feel like I have some friends on my side. I hope so. There is no way I can pay all of that.

But, this evening I got a call from Chris, we got to talk about a lot of things. I really enjoy when he calls. There is always a bunch of things to share back and forth. I am really proud of the achievements he has made in his job and family. He has a really special family.

Now for a good night sleep and the battle tomorrow.

Awe A New Week

Monday, and I was up to getting somethings done around the house and run some errands. Yesterday for some reason or an other I just wasn't feeling good. I was disappointed. Not only did I miss Church and not getting to visit with Paul but, I was not up to going to Jacob's Seminary Graduation.

Thank goodness I woke up feeling fairly well. I went over to see Paul and got there just as the fellow from Hospice of The Valley had come to give him a bath. Paul's razor has been giving them a bad time. So I took the razor and went to Sears where I could get a new head for it. By the time I got back he had him all clean and shaved. So I got the razor as clean as I could get it and put away for them next time.

Paul was out with the group who were watching a Game Show on the big TV. Paul doesn't see it, but he hears it and laughs every now and then. He was concentrating on what he was hearing from the TV so it was had to visit much. But it is good see him enjoying something.

After I did some shopping and then grabbed a bit to eat and got off to Family Nite. It was at Genie's. That is where we go most of the time. But she was gone for a few weeks so we missed not being at her home. We all feel so much at home there. We were reading out of Alm in the Book of Mormon. We had some great discussions.

It's been a good day.

I Cheated Today

I have been going and going to get out side and get the back yard in order. But it has needed the kind of pruning and cutting back that I don't even have the equipment to do it with let alone the energy. So yesterday I called the fellow I used to have come and do the yard maintenance for me. He is great and fixes things, like the sprinkling system and such. Well, it just happened he was going to be in my neighborhood the next day which is today. And so the back yard is all pruned again and the sprinkling system is working again and I may be able to save the back lawn now that I can water it. I am so glad.

This afternoon I had my eye appointment and it went really well. I like what my new I glaces are going to look like. Char was a real sweetheart and drove me there. I really enjoy getting to visit with her. After we got a few minutes to swim. That felt really good too.

Then I went straight over to my Weight Watchers mtg. I did really well, especially considering I was taken out to eat so much last week-end. I was really please about that too. So all and all I had a very nice day.

Tomorrow I am going to make time to visit with Paul. He was doing well yesterday except he seemed a bit more tired than normal lately. But I guess that is to be expected now and then.

Challeging Day

I woke this morning with plans to clean up the backyard and get the bookwork done for two of my clients. I started work on the commuter, the first client's report went fairly well. So, I started in on the second one, my little maintenance business' monthly reports. As soon as I opened the bookkeeping program I start getting reports of up-dates and notices of changes. I've been listening to the news and I have heard the talk of the Stimulus Package that our President Oboma is giving us (or to us) and how people were going to be getting Tax Credits to help them spend more. I really hadn't stop to think how that was being done or when that was going to happen. Well, after clicking from this place to that on the IRS sites and then Quickbooks and back again several times. I printed all I could in Spanish also so Jose will kind of understand why the pay checks for his one employee will be different, but he will have to wait until he has his Income Taxes for 2009 done before he will receive any of that credit. After all he is only a "Employer" not an employee. What a mess!

After all of that (hours) I stopped and decided that I needed to change and get up to the pool for my well needed exercises. But when I got there, there was not a sole around. I have no idea where all the girls were, but none of them showed up. I did a bunch of exercises anyway and then relaxed for a few minutes. I think maybe it worked out for the best for me today.

While I was still cooled off I got the backyard picked up and tried to fix the sprinkle so I could water the lawn, I wasn't very good at getting it to do it right, but it got wet at list.

So tomorrow morning I will try to get Jose's actual monthly reports done, now that I think I know what I have to do for his employee! Well, I got most of my list done. And, the pool was great.

Mother's Day Week-End

What a wonderful last few days. Mother's Day started Thursday for me. Char came and took me Out to Lunch. Friday she came again to take me to an appointment that I ended up canceling. So we took care of some errands and then went out to lunch again. Then we came home and went swimming for the first time this season. The pool at the club house was a bit cool, but after we got moving around it was great. We met some really nice Ladies I had not met before who live here in Sun Aires. They were starting up a exercise (water) daily class Monday - Friday and asked me to please join them. It was really fun. I think Char like it as much as I did. Since I started Weight Watchers Thursday the exercise will really be good for me.

Saturday morning I met Wendy and her family at IHOP for breakfast. It was fun getting to visit with them. They gave me some darling little rabbits for the front yard. (Char had gone in with then on the decorations). They look so cute in front of the house.

After I went over to see Paul. He was doing good. He was in a really good mood.

Then Chris and Amy and the kids came. They had traveled all the way from Serria Visita a four hour drive, to visit me. Bless their hearts, it was so good to see them. We took the kids over to the pool and they had a great time. It was so much fun. I miss them a lot, so it was extra special.

After the swimming, Chris went and got us a wonderful dinner and brought it home for us to enjoy. Dana had made some of the cutes cards for me. She has her mother's talent I think. After that they had the long ride home. How special that was of them. I love them so much.

Then today after Church I went to visit Paul. I got to read to him some more. He loved it and was ready to sleep. From there I went to Elaine and Lloyd's where they had fixed a lovely dinner. Lloyd's parents were there also. It was so nice to get to visit with them also.

They gave me a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers. Laura had been there earlier and she had left some beautiful roses for me. So I came home with two lovely bouquets of flowers. They make the front room look so pretty and festive.

What wonderful days I have had. I have such a wonderful family. And I am so proud of the super Mothers that my grandchildren have. They are all so special and doing so much to raise their families right. How blessed I am.

A Full Day

I was pretty busy today. Char came over and took me out for lunch. (for Mother's Day) We went to The Olive Garden. It is always yummy there and she is so fun to be with. Then we went and got our cell phone situation straighten out. When we got home she helped me to find out how to get all my family and friends numbers on my contact list. It is really nice having a cell phone I can read and figure out.

After Char left for home, I went over to visit with Paul. I was so pleased to see him up in his wheel chair. Even though they have told me about getting him up I was never there to see him.
It has be months since I have seen him up off his bed. He was in a good and silly mood. He said he had a bath again. He really enjoys that. I stayed until his dinner came and got to help feed him.

After I finished with Paul, I left and went to a Weight Watchers meeting. I have decided that if I want to get feeling really healthy I need to get back to the program that really helped me before. I already know that it works for me. I've already had good success with it. So I figured that I need to go back and finish the job right. It should be a real help with the Hypoglycemia.

Then when I got home I played some more with my new cell phone. You know how it is when you have a new toy. It was a Good Day

Trying Again

I tried to write last night but lost connection with the Internet. It just kept saying retry! I finely gave up and just closed it down. It wouldn't let me save it. Oh well! I was in such a good mood it wasn't that important. I had attended my "Family Home Evening Group" for the first time in months and it was great. We have such a neat bunch. They are all "Empty Nestor's". We study the scriptures, conference talks, Sunday School lessons, what ever we are interested in that night. We have great discussions. And I feel we all go home with more understanding of the gospel.

Today I went shopping for some shirts for Paul and a few other things. When I went by he was listening to the TV on the history channel. He was really enjoying it. They had had him up in the wheel chair for lunch. They have decided that once a day is about all he really can manage and stay comfortable. He has been eating really well and likes snacks in between meals also. They are being so good with him. He seems to really like them, but he always asks can he come home now? I remind him how good they are with him and that with my bad back I would never be able to do all they do. But that when he gets feeling better we will see. He keeps talking about camping out. But I really do feel a lot more comfortable about him being there and all the care he is getting.

I tried to set up an appointment with the eye doctor today, but found out I will have to have someone with me to drive home. Because I told them that my eye sight has really changed, he checked his records and noted that last time I showed cataracts in both eyes and that may be the biggest part of the problem. I haded thought of that. So he will need to dilate them. I will try to see tomorrow if Laura can take me in a few days. Well, I see!! HaHa

Sunday - My Favorite Day

Attending church today was really nice. It was Fast Sunday, and our meeting was so filled with the spirit. A lot of wonderful testimonies were shared. It was really up lifting.

Before going I called to see how Paul was doing. They said he slept well and had a big breakfast in the dinning room sitting in his new wheel chair. I was so glad to hear that.

After church I went over to see Paul. Since I called they had taken him in is wheel chair to the Bathing room, where they have a big tub. It has all kinds of equipment to lift and support the patients and it has a jacuzzi. Well, he got his first bath and I don't remember when, and according to him "it felt really good". After a while of rest they got him up again for lunch. I was really over whelmed.

When I first got there he didn't know who I was for a while, but after a little bit I asked if he would like me to read some more of Alm to him. He was happy about that. After reading for quite a while he definitely knew who I was and we talk quite a lot. I tried to help him understand he needed to stay there for a while because they were all very good and nice and could help him feel better. I think he began to feel it was OK and he would stay for a while.

Later when they tried to get him in the wheel chair again for dinner though, he fell apart. I think it may have be a bit too much for one day. His whole body went into shaking real hard and there was no way to get him in the wheel chair. They quickly decided to lay him back down on his bed and helped him to relax and reassured him that he could stay there for now and they would go get his dinner and feed him right there. When he was sure they were going to get him dinner he did relax. In a couple of minutes or so they were there with a delicious looking dinner and his favorite cranberry juice. He was all happy again and it was a good time for me to say good by and slip out.

It feels so good to see he is getting very good care. A million pounds of worry have be lifted off me.

Tomorrow I am going to meet with the daily staff and see what clothes they feel he needs to have. Some I'm sure he all ready has and some I am sure I will need to go get him. I'm just not sure what. The temperatures are even better there in his room and he doesn't have to go outside to get to the dinning room like he did at Immanuel. I need to do some more "Thank Thees" again tonight.

Transfer is Done

At long last this morning Paul was transferred to Good Shepherd. The transporters were wonderful. Everyone was wonderful. I am so impressed with the knowledge and tenderness they all showed. Paul was as I was afraid he would be very, very confused. He thought he was camping with the boy scouts and wanted me to help him pack up the car and go home at times. Although there were times he got really funny with the Nurse and Care Givers. It was a long day for him and me. By late afternoon he began to relax a bit and sleep, so the nurse agreed it was a good time for me to go and get some rest myself. She gave me the phone number of her desk and told me to call any time I wanted.

I did call about dinner time and she said he had just eaten a good dinner (there is someone who comes in and feeds him) and was doing fine. Tomorrow morning they are going to try and get him in the wheel chair with the high back for a little bit. They need to weigh him so they will do it all together sort of. I am hoping that it will work. It would be better if he could move around more. He will get bed sores if he just lays there on his back all the time. Well, they have had lots of experience and if possible I am sure they will know how.

One More Day

We were scheduled to transfer Paul from Hospice of the Valley into Good Shepherd this morning. However, we had to wait for "Marie Graham" of "Mercy Care" to call and give the OK she was suppose to fax yesterday to Good Shepherd. I was beginning to think we were starting back to a month and a half or so again. But, after waiting and waiting and Good Shepherd calling and calling, at 4:45pm. Marie called and left a message giving the final OK. Hurray!!!

So, tomorrow morning I am to meet them at Hospice of the Valley and we will transfer Paul to his new room at Good Shepherd. I feel like taking a great big breath and shouting, It Is Finally Over.

I called and checked up on Laura, she sounds so awful. The bug she has has settled in her chest. She saw the doctor thank goodness. He gave her some meds. Now if she will just rest. The children are old enough to take care of things. She goes so hard, but then, Wendy a week or so did about the same thing. This has been a hard year for allergy's and flu's. There is one flu that is hitting all over the world, that started in Mexico. They call it the "swine flu", it is a brand new flu not seen before. They have had to close down some schools to keep it from spreading. There is a lot of news about it. It isn't real bad on the people who get it here in the US, (not as bad as the people in Mexico, they don't know why) but they are not sure if it will return and be worse. It will be something to watch what does become of it in history.

Well, tomorrow will be a good day.

Paper Day - Special Night

Today I met with the admittance girl, Michele, at Good Shepperd. She is very nice but, the paper work took two hours. It was like the paper work when you are taking out a mortgage or something. It is really something. But it is all done and that's a good feeling. We just need the Doctors orders, that will come tomorrow morning. Michele said she would call me when they are ready to transport him so I can be there.

I am hoping it will not disturb Paul too much.

I am even more impressed with the place and all the equipment that they have. Michele tells me they will try to work with him and get him into a high backed wheel chair. They feel it will give him a feeling of more safety. Also, there will always be someone with him when he is eating to be sure he doesn't choke or forget to swallow. I was really pleased with that. I hadn't thought about that. They are really on top of the care he needs.

Tonight I had a big surprise. Sarah (Paul's daughter) and Derrick and little Elizabeth came up. Sarah dropped Derrick and Elizabeth off to visit with me and she went over and visited with Paul.

That little Elizabeth is unbelievable for her age. She is not quite two years old yet. She know most of the alphabet, she is starting to count, talks like 3+ years old. She knows her colors and knows how to sign (like the deaf do) a whole lot of words. She is very polite, thank you, no thank you, please, etc. And to add to it, she is tiny like her mom so that makes her look even more unbelievable.

It was not hard to see that her daddy was proud of her.

Sarah seems to have had a nice visit with Paul. I am so glad. She will most likely not be up again until some time after the baby is born. He is going to be called Issac and I forgot what she said his middle name is going to be. I should have wrote it down. Oh Well. I'll get it later.

It was really good seeing them again.
